Experiencing an after-life crisis, Death quits his job ferrying souls in the underworld. Seeking employment among the living, he learns that old habits die hard!
Series Overview
Death is frustrated with the mundane, repetetive and thankless work he’s been performing in the underworld for what feels like an eternity. On the verge of an after-life crisis, Death finally snaps his paddle and escapes to the surface… straight to the front of the employment queue. During the course of his minute-long darkly comical adventures, Death experiences many different jobs, gaining insights into the people, emotions and hazards in a range of working environments. Genuinely naive and innocent, Death longs to connect with people in a positive way. Despite his noble intentions, his age-old habit of stealing souls from the living prevails and casualties abound. His former livelihood becomes the bain of his earthly existance, as the people he tries to serve inadvertantly take their places on his old ferryboat, back in Hades.
The young and exuberant, the bored and desperate, the old and cranky- no group of people is safe from Death’s maligned desire to do good. Little by little, Death discovers his dissatisfaction with his job is not unique to the underworld. His experiences among the living combine soaring ecstacy with crushing despair, and Death occasionally takes time to reflect. In more introspective moments, Death considers the toll he’s taken on humanity, and even considers the value of his very existance. As the series progresses, Death communicates through his string of tragic failures the pain of alienation and the hopeful bewilderment of innocence in charming and disturbing measures.
